In itself it is not the most thrilling or beautiful piece of cinema, I know, but I like it anyway. I watched it for the first time in a few years a couple of days ago and it struck me that I took more away from this little exchange than I realized. Just another one of those subconscious influences, I suppose.

I keep watching it over and over again. I find it really ..well..GRIPPING and for me it doesn’t venture into the uncanny valley - with some really great acting - I GOT SCARED FOR HER . Just really awesome work overall.

This is just stunning.
So my dad sent me this link today to a music video he found on Technology Review’s blog. Apparently it’s a re-envisioning of several famous artificial intelligences from movies (Hal, Tron, GERTY, Robocop) attempting to express their unrequited affections for the humans they live with, as their personalities grow to encompass feelings such as love.
My dad knows me WAY too fucking well. I don’t even recall ever telling him about any of these interests in conversation, so this is a little SCARY.
It’s like one of those coming out stories where your family already knew for years, because you were so OBVIOUS.
“Mom, Dad… I’m a robophile.”
“Well, DUH.”Wow, this is so good…
