Wait. A quick jaunt to the Combine Overwiki reveals that Cave Johnson died in the late 1980s while the Black Mesa incident occured on May 16, 200-

Are we to believe that his sabotage decades prior triggered the events of Half-Life?

Or do I not understand the concept of “headcanon”?

No, he just went on a crazy person jaunt through Black Mesa until they found him and took him away.

Man, the Combine Overwiki is full of so many contradictions about the timeline of the Portal series that I don’t really give it any authority for Portal anymore. I use my own timeline that tries to reconcile everything from the games and the comic, but even that is difficult since those contradict sometimes too. Not that it matters in the grander scheme of things.

Also, the term ‘headcanon’ is most often used to mean ‘stories people think up that are in no way canon’ … funny world we live in

Edit: To gently stick this into a more believable timeline, the Black Mesa researchers left his nametag in the tram for years following his visit, partly out of amusement, partly out of respect.

I’ve pretty much decided on the final design for a humanoid Wheatley thing design to make stuff easier. he and Lamar would have a lot of fun freaking Gordon out. well, rather Wheatley would and lamar would simply lament over not having teeth. Aaaww, this style is just precious. I love how excited Wheatley is that Gordon’s pet likes him. Though I think headcrabs eat brains, so she’d be out of luck even if she hadn’t been ‘debeaked’
