A less idyllic Chelley drabble.
This is really fantastic. You write Chell so well. Every nuance of her character here—her attachment to Wheatley, her anger with herself for both forgiving him and hurting him, her kneejerk reaction to his voice and presence. It feels right. I say this a lot with your stories, but it’s so believable. And though we get none of Wheatley’s perspective, I am so heartbroken for him. His apology… god.
I love how simple this story is, by the way. It is short and blunt, but that in no way keeps it from sucker-punching me right in the gut with such complex emotions. And I have to say, it IS sad, but the fact that she’s still with him, that he’s still with her, that he stays with her and apologizes and tries to help her out sort of tempers that. PTSD is an awful thing for her to have to go through, but at least she’s going through it with him.
